  • ( ) The Cider Vinegar Heartburn Cure?

The "Eat, Drink and Be Healthy" nutrition column in today's Health section explores ways to manage heartburn, acid reflux, and GERD through altering your diet. Losing weight and identifying those foods that seem to trigger your heartburn (and then avoiding those foods) are the prime tips offered by dietitian Elaine Magee, author of Tell Me What to Eat if I Have Acid Reflux.

Incredible as it may sound, this wonder fruit would pave the way to a permanent cure for acid reflux.

Acid reflux can certainly cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Night after night, Bob would be at the toilet, vomiting all the food he had eaten a moment ago. He could not sleep well, then, and that made him totally distracted the following day. More>>

Adding to those factors is uncertainty over the impact a lengthy and deepening economic downturn might have as people lose health insurance or stop filling costly prescriptions.

"The economy is one of the more prominent wild card factors in the forecast," Diana Conmy, director of Market Insights for IMS, admitted in an interview.

The U.S. market is still expected to generate 2009 sales of $292 billion to $302 billion with the worsening economy and fewer new product launches having an impact.

New product approvals are at historically low levels, IMS said, with only 25 to 30 new chemical entities slated for launch in 2009, including potentially prominent entries in the diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis arenas. More>>
