) Night sweats common, but not always just a phase
Medical conditions such as acid reflux, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetics who may have low blood sugar at night may sweat at night. If none of these conditions are the cause of night sweats, then one is left with a diagnosis of idiopathic hyperhidrosis, which is only given to someone who has had an exhaustive, but thorough work up for night sweats, but no clear cause is found.
Finding the cause of nocturnal hyperhidrosis may be a diagnostic challenge for a lot of doctors. Sometimes, the answer may come simply from food as well as other substances that one may be ingesting such as alcohol and hot and spicy foods.
If you are having excessive night sweats, you need to talk to your doctor, who can systematically rule out serious causes of night sweats. More>>

) New Test for Chronic Cough
Pulmonologists like Dr. Hahn say the four main causes of chronic cough are post-nasal drip, acid reflux, asthma and a type of non-asthmatic bronchitis. With just a few breaths, the new test allows doctors to find out which patients suffer from two treatable conditions, asthma and bronchitis. "[By doing] this very simple, non-invasive test up front, we were able to find patients who were responsive to inhaled corticosteroids as a treatment for their cough," Dr. Hahn said. Rueggs sees firsthand how this test helps her patients. "They think it's wonderful there's another test that can really zero in on their diagnosis," Rueggs said. ) Sounds of deer camp ring in my ears
Like acid reflux, he keeps coming up on a daily basis. Since last Sunday, the bell-bottom blue jeans era "Country Boy" has rattled around my brain. I'm sure valuable RAM gray matter was deleted so the lyrics "Country boy, you got your feet in L.A., but your mind's on Tennessee" could be stored as a non sequitur file. Unfortunately, no amount of mental floss can dislodge this song.
While a hot shower and shave stripped away the residue of deer camp four days ago, I can't simply wash away Glen Campbell. I'm stuck with him until my mind purges this useless tidbit. While it would unlikely change my predicament, it's too bad you can't file a restraining order on a song -- good thing for the Brittany Spearses of the world.
While Glen Campbell is not the ideal voice in my head, things could have been worse -- lyrically speaking. More>>
