) I poisoned my baby by breastfeeding but doctors said I was
Our local hospital had run some tests when Angus was a few weeks old and found he had a degree of acid reflux from his stomach, but because it was only mild, they'd said that it 'wasn't a problem'. My pleas for more tests were rejected.
I asked if Angus could be allergic to what I was eating as my other son had been unable to tolerate cow's milk, but they said that because he was breastfed that shouldn't be a problem.
It seemed as though no one was interested in our poor screaming baby, as though I was just being an over-anxious, neurotic mum and making it all up.
I was told that 'some babies just scream a lot', that there was 'nothing wrong', that he would 'just grow out of it'.
At times I was so tired that I thought perhaps the problem did lie with me. More>>

) Doctor, doctor
The American Nurses Study, which churns out data on tens of thousands of women, links oestrogen-containing HRT with reflux of acid from the stomach into the oesophagus - the underlying cause of heartburn. Women taking HRT were some one and a half times more likely than those who had never taken it to report reflux symptoms. Raloxifene (an anti-breast cancer agent that acts on oestrogen receptors) and herbal medicines such as soya (often taken instead of HRT) produced similar results. Common to all treatments is a rise in blood levels of nitric oxide, which relaxes the muscle between the oesophagus and stomach. But don't stop the HRT: talk to your GP about heartburn relief. It should deal with your discomfort. I've just had a baby and have very painful wrists from constantly picking her up. More>>

When the cloves are soft, I usually eat them. I eat two to four a day. Are cloves safe to eat? Answer: Dentists have used clove oil for pain relief, and some Eastern traditions suggest cloves can be helpful against coughs.

) Rich Campbell: Campaign highlights? Why bother? The low-lights are
In one of DiTerlizzi's TV ads, Fetterman looked like he was demon-possessed and had a severe case of acid reflux. In one of Fetterman's mailers, DiTerlizzi looked like a Mafia don —— with acid reflux. Neither image was flattering. On Tuesday, voters looked past Fetterman's distorted pictorial image and elected him to the state legislature. SAY WHAT? The political contest between U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, and his challenger, Republican Marion Thorpe, was relatively quiet — until the final week of the campaign. Then, following a debate last Thursday at a Boca Raton synagogue, whispers were exchanged between the two men. Thorpe claims Hastings said, "You mention that impeachment ... again and I'm taking you out permanently." (Hastings, a federal judge at the time, was impeached by Congress in 1989 for allegedly accepting a bribe from two imprisoned cocaine dealers. More>>
