) Aciphex Can Make Your Heartburn WORSE
Although healthy people can sometimes get heartburn also, chronic heartburn (every two or three days) may suggest acid reflux, also known as GERD - gastro esophageal reflux disease. About 20% of adults in developed western countries must endure recurring heartburn. The name heartburn simply describes the burning sensation of pain in the throat or the chest, often brought on after a meal. The acid reflux at the root of the pain of heartburn is triggered by the weakness of the esophageal sphincter. It can lead to inflammation of the inner esophagus (esophagitis) and difficulties in swallowing, bleeding, esophageal passage constriction, Barrett's esophagus, and sometimes cancer. GERD is the medical condition generated by the incorrect functioning of a muscle between the esophagus and the stomach. More>>

) LifeCoach: Our experts answer questions
A: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (Gerd) or acid reflux disease occurs when the valve which separates the stomach and the tube leading into it (the oesophagus), does not close properly and allows acid from the stomach to back up into the oesophagus causing the burning sensation known as heartburn. Avoid trigger foods such as spicy meals, high fat or acidic foods (such as citrus fruits and tomatoes), caffeine and chocolate. Alcohol and excessive amounts of vitamin C from supplements can also stimulate gastric acid secretion, making symptoms worse, as do fizzy drinks. Also avoid large meals, especially at bedtime: don’t lie down for an hour after meals and try not to eat or drink for two to three hours before going to bed. It is better to have smaller meals throughout the day and to eat slowly. More>>

) This farewell kiss lacks passion
Tome, however,it looked like acid reflux. Save a few interludes imagining George as he would love to be - a baseball star in front of a cheering crowd - Stone sticks with the facts, laying details on with a trowel. In trying to play fair, or as fair as he can, he ends up in a strange no-man's land between fact and fantasy, polemic and biopic. With afigureascontroversialasW, boldness should have been the order of the day. Just ask President-elect Obama.

) Medical Edge: Periodic night sweats are common
Night sweats have been associated with acid reflux, a relatively common problem in adults. Taking over-the-counter acid-reducing medications such as Prilosec (omeprazole) or Zantac (ranitidine) at bedtime might help. Night sweats also can be a symptom of serious and chronic illnesses, including tuberculosis, bacterial and fungal infections, and some cancers such as lymphoma. But, night sweats likely wouldn't be the only symptom of a serious illness.
If you have fever, a change in appetite, weight loss, lymph node swelling, rashes or other new symptoms along with night sweats, consult your health care provider. Or, if your night sweats are profuse, so much that you need to change your nightclothes and bedding, talk with your doctor to rule out any underlying medical condition. More>>
